Her life is upended when she discovers Mischa — a twin sister raised as a human in New York, hidden from her since birth. As the sisters bond and Mischa adjusts to the supernatural world, they discover they both carry the Dragon Mark — a rare and feared brand that has led to generations of children being imprisoned in crystal caskets in a hidden underground prison called the Cloister. When Jessa and Mischa uncover the Cloister's horrors, they realize their trusted teacher Kristov is secretly serving the Dragon King, an ancient force prophesied to rise and destroy their world. The twins must choose between hiding their marks to survive or revealing themselves to fight for the Dragon-marked children. At the school's Equinox Bash, Kristov attacks. Jessa, pushed to her limit, unleashes her Dragon for the first time — a transformation no one believed possible. Both sisters are exposed before the entire community. There is no going back. But they are together, and they are no longer hiding.
