Bobby Mack – Texas Roadhouse Blues A true Texas guitar legend, Bobby Mack has spent over five decades prowling the backroads and roadhouses of the Lone Star State, delivering the kind of searing, sultry blues-rock that one critic described as feeling “like a dog sticking their head out of a moving car for the first time.” This performance captures that same raw, unfiltered energy live. About the Artist Born June 19, 1954, in Fort Worth, Texas, Bobby Mack grew up immersed in the rich DFW music scene, performing publicly since 1970 before relocating to Austin in 1972. There, he became a house regular at the legendary Antone’s — “Home of the Blues” — leading the stage every Wednesday night through the mid-1980s, during an era when Austin was the beating heart of an underground blues scene that also included Stevie Ray Vaughan and his brother Jimmy. Early in his career, Mack was often dismissed as a second-rate Stevie Ray Vaughan — an almost inescapable comparison given the two were nearly exact contemporaries from the same Texas blues scene. But over time, Mack carved out his own identity, fronting his band Bobby Mack & Night Train and releasing a string of acclaimed albums including Red Hot & Humid, Sugar All Night, and Highway Man. His sound has been described by the Dallas Observer as capturing “the searing and at the same time sultry sound of hot Texas winds, steamy nights and smokey South Texas Road Houses.” Over the decades, Mack has shared stages with blues giants including Albert Collins, Buddy Guy, and Otis Rush, cementing his place among the defining guitarists of the Austin blues tradition. About This Performance Texas Roadhouse Blues delivers exactly what the title promises — scorching Stratocaster work, gritty vocals, and the unmistakable sound of a musician who’s spent a lifetime perfecting the art of the Texas roadhouse. It’s blues-rock built for sweat-soaked nights and packed bars, performed by a guitarist who earned every bit of his reputation the hard way.
