After a row of concerts across the British isles, Queen return to mainland Europe to continue the Magic tour. Playing in front of 50,000 paying fans, this is Queen's majestic return to Cologne after skipping one of their most loyal fans in Germany on the previous tour, playing at another football stadium. Additionally, it's Brian's 39th birthday on the day of this show and the audience makes sure to sing him a few songs throughout the evening, most notbaly after 'Under Pressure' (where Freddie comments on the occasion) and before 'Love of My Life', prompting a clearly happy and emotional Brian to launch into the opening of '39 for the last time in the original line-up era. Earlier, he had joined Marillion, one of the support bands, for their set and in return, Fish (who Freddie introduces as "Mrs Fish") joins them for 'Tutti Frutti', repeating the same action done in Mannheim a few weeks earlier. Once again, the mood up on stage is absolutely fantastic, leading to fantastic performances all around and even a small fall down the stage by Brian during his stellar guitar solo (he doesn't miss a bit, making it impossible to detect the exact moment of this accident) can't change that. Later on, the band once again extend the Oldies section by playing one final version of Elton John's 'Saturday Night's Alright (For Fighting)'. As done in Mannheim, the full show was filmed as a rehearsal for the upcoming Budapest concert but according to sources, the footage was taped over as it was thought to be "unimportant" by whoever was in charge of the whole operation, meaning we could've had footage of this unique Brian birthday performance. Snippets at this show: 'Liar' (before 'Tear It Up'), '39 (before 'Love of My Life') and 'Johnny B. Goode' by Chuck Berry (during 'Now I'm Here'). 00:00:00 - 01. One Vision 00:05:54 - 02.
